Biofuels

Biofuel

Alabama Bulk Terminal is actively pursuing new Bio products and streams. We are currently storing HVO and FAME and are constantly trying to expand our portfolio to facilitate the energy conversion. We have converted fossil fuel tanks to accommodate new biofuels and plan to continue doing so.

Unlike other renewable energy sources, biomass can be converted directly into liquid fuels, called "biofuels," to help meet transportation fuel needs. The two most common types of biofuels in use today are ethanol and biodiesel, both of which represent the first generation of biofuel technology.

Transportation and Storage of Biodiesel

Biodiesel that leaves the production plant in good condition can become unacceptable during distribution without proper care and attention. Biodiesel can degrade due to oxidation, contact with water, and/or microbial activity.
